Still Stuffed

Giant plates of Thanksgiving foodstuffs were consumed at 1 pm. Then came the sleep. After the sleep came more coffee, with a slice of pecan pie. More sleep. Now it’s after 9 pm, well past the time we would normally be having dinner, and it appears no one is hungry yet. I’m not surprised. They really were giant plates of foodstuffs.

The weather has been utterly gross and wet today, but at least the food and sleep has been good. Maybe I’ll see if the husband wants to watch another episode of Bridgerton. We’re so close the being done with season 2!

Progress Made

Two hours into the day and the fridge has been cleansed and organized. There is now room for the Turkey Day goodies. Furthermore, the garbage and dirty dishes resulting from fridge cleansing and organizing have also been tended to. Yay! The most important thing I needed to do is done!

Now I shall have a little sit down, eat a little lunch, and maybe have a wee little bit of a post-lunch nap. I went to bed at a totally reasonable hour last night, but 7 am still came much too early. My butt has begun to drag, and it’s only noon.

After I have recuperated a bit, today’s cooking and prepping shall begin, followed by cleaning up the mess that causes. I also need to decide what the heck we’ll be eating tonight, something which I forgot to consider. In light of the fact by the time we get to dinner making later, I will likely have spent another few hours in the kitchen getting ready for tomorrow, I’m feeling fairly confident we will have baked potatoes with a can of vegan chili poured on top, with an assortment of chili-specific toppings applied. That would also be an excuse to have the oven on, which may push back the moist chill currently invading the house.

So that’s the current plan. Eat, sleep, get back to work. 🤣

Today’s Agenda

The list of things I’d like to get done today is painfully long. Topmost on said list is cleaning out the fridge to make room for the food I shall be preparing for tomorrow’s day of face stuffing. I also need to get the kitchen ready and do any prep work I can to make things easier on myself. The turkey is already cooked, or smoked really, as is the pie (baked, not smoked), so all I really need to put together tomorrow is green bean casserole (from scratch, beans cooked today), scalloped potatoes, and stuffing. I didn’t really want to do all this cooking, but that’s just the way things worked out. Such is life.

Also on today’s list is continuing to sort through my art supplies to weed out pens and whatnot that no longer work. Whatever is left will likely get donated to the local art supply thrift store, because aside from pencils, the only pens I ever need in my life are Pigma Microns. I love them so much! Oh, and a few Sharpies, black only. In fact, just black ink everything. I never use the colored inks, and it’s a waste for me to buy them.

Today’s stretch goal is to keep trying to sort out how to easily create and maintain a weekly newsletter. This shouldn’t be as hard as it has been, but not having an actual computer has made it somewhat more difficult. Ok, a LOT more difficult, especially the “making it cute and pretty” part. That and the fact I’ve found no service to use which I trust with my and my friends’ data. I’ve got a couple options to consider, and I’d like to do that today.

Also on the list is tying the blog into the Fediverse, so folks on Mastodon and its offshoots can just follow the blog (if they want) instead of following my personal account. I’d thought I might post links to my blog posts over there, but eh, I don’t think I’ll be doing a lot of posting on my account. There are a number of things in the Fediverse that just rub me the wrong way. Perhaps at some point I’ll snap and make a post about these things, but today is not that day.

So … quite the busy day I have planned. The weather is still gloomy and moist, though it isn’t actively raining today. Yet. This is naturally leading to a complete and total lack of motivation to do anything at all but sit in my recliner playing video games or watching YouTube (while cuddling with cats, of course). Since I’m currently caffeinated, I better hop up and get the fridge organizing done. Of all the tasks on today’s list, it’s actually the most important. There’s simply no room to put large containers of food, and there really needs to be. All the cooking in the world does me no good, if I can’t cram the stuff into the fridge for later consuming!

Continued Crankiness

In hopes of being able to set a day to look forward too, I looked at the long range weather forecast for my area. Freaking depressing. It’s going to continue to be dark, gloomy, chilly, and moist for the entire week. I can’t possibly sleep through the entire week in order to avoid it … or can I? I mean, I could TRY to sleep through the entire gross and wet week, but then nothing at all would get done.

Since I’m pretty sure I am not actually able to sleep through an entire week of nasty winter weather, just as I am sure the things which need doing outside in the yard won’t get done due to said weather either, I suppose I’ll just spend the week poking around on my server space, figuring out what I want to do with my second domain, and setting up that newsletter people expect me to be setting up. Oh, and I need to keep sorting through my art supplies and tossing the bad ones. The weather is perfect for these activities. Without a doubt there will also be plenty of naps.

And I’ve just remembered Thursday is Thanksgiving. Argh! Well, now I have plenty of things to do on Wednesday and Thursday! And the whole house will be warm and smell great from the cooking. Not going to make me less cranky about the weather, but at least I’ll have something to keep me busy.

And any plans for the week will be for naught, if the cat food doesn’t arrive very soon. They had breakfast, but dinner time is fast approaching, and there is no acceptable cat kibble in the house. We will be eaten alive, and Ronin, who is on a prescription diet and has food, will sit and watch it happen like some sort of dinner theater. It’ll be a tragi-comedy.

Speaking of dinner, I have no idea what we humans will eat tonight. Something involving sausage, which is what I pulled from the freezer earlier today. Guess I should go shamble about in the kitchen and make some decisions.

Cold and Cranky

The weather today is gloomy, chilly, and moist. I hate it. Make it go away. I want it to stop! Just a little sunshine … PLEASE!

Anyway … since some folks at Metafilter decided having a Mastodon server for Metafilter members sounded like a good idea, I’m on Mastodon now. You can find me here! I don’t know that I like it. I don’t know how much I’ll use it. I thought I should at least check it out before making up my mind though. And by “it” I mean Mastodon itself. The actual instance I’m on will be fine. I am already familiar with that motley crew and their shenanigans. 🤣

Thanks to the completely gross weather, I think getting set up on Mefi.Social is the only thing of note that will be accomplished today. I’ve got a raging headache, and I can’t get warm. The only solution to both of these problems is to turn on the bed warmer and go cuddle with the cats.
