Winter ‘Maters

Went out to the porch this afternoon to water my plants and was surprised by the appearance of blooms on my little wild tomato plant! Admittedly, the weather has been much warmer than even the usual mild Texas temperatures, but I still wasn't expecting this silly little volunteer plant to already be trying to produce fruit. Not complaining! Normally, I'd pinch them off to give the plant a chance to get larger, but the possibility of having fresh tomatoes in the middle of winter is just too tempting for me!

This new development also gives me a clue about what sort of tomato it might be. It's not, as I had hoped a cherry tomato. I'm feeling somewhat confident that it's the offspring of this year's patio tomato plant, which would be awesome, because that plant was my most prolific producer.
