Carmen Mercer is the leader of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, or rather, she was the leader of that organization, before she sent out an email that got some media attention and then disbanded the group. Most of the media attention focused on two quotes from a rather long email, and in doing so, the media has allowed Mercer to say she didn’t actually mean for anyone to hang around the border carrying firearms that were “locked and loaded” … which is a shame.
She very much did mean for that to happen, which is readily apparent upon reading the entire email (provided below). As a gun lover, I didn’t need to read the entire email, because if someone tells me to bring my long arm and to be locked, loaded, and ready, I know exactly what that means. There is no ambiguity about such a statement for anyone who knows what a long arm is (a rifle, or long gun, for those who don’t).
Right now, I am certain Mercer would just like this all to go away and for people to not notice that she well and truly told people to bring guns to the border and to use them if necessary. He own words in the email she sent make it abundantly clear exactly what she was asking the organizations members to do, and so it’s surprising to me she now acts like “OMG! They took me seriously! I didn’t mean it like that!” She is point blank lying. Seriously, seriously lying.

John McCain told Chris Simcox in 2004 that he thought American citizens watching the border would pose a greater risk than the drug cartels.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps of Arizona is calling on all volunteers as we return to the southern border with Mexico, en mass, beginning Friday afternoon March 26 and lasting until our Congress deploys the U.S military to our borders to defend the United States of America.
On the 8th anniversary of Chris Simcox’ historic Tea Party protest on the border which began in Cochise County, Arizona, this muster will be a defining moment for our nation.
President Obama in legion with John McCain, Lindsey Graham and most of the rest of our impotent and incompetent federal government have continued to exhibit as much contempt for our Constitution, rule of law and ordered society as the illegal aliens, drug dealers and Human smugglers who violate our sacred borders 24/7/365.

For 8 long years we Minutemen played nice; yet for the past 8-years we firmly expressed our opinions and desires for the border to be secured- but this muster will be completely different -President Obama and John McCain have left us no choice -this March we return to the border locked, loaded and ready to stop each and every individual we encounter along the frontier that is now more dangerous than the frontier of Afghanistan.
This operation will not be for the faint of heart.
MCDC volunteers will work under an entirely different SOP; we will approach our duty as citizens as we should – we have a zero tolerance for any and all violations of our border and we will forcefully engage, detain, and defend our lives and country from the criminals who trample over our culture and laws.
Long arms will be allowed and frankly, encouraged. From the surveillance videos we have gathered in the field over the past six months it is more than evident the violators of our borders seem to have been given carte blanc permission to willfully violate our public safety. This time we will not be tempered by political correctness; every single individual we encounter WILL BE apprehended by Border Patrol with our help – even those who dare enter our country armed will be stopped and challenged. Political correctness is a fad of the past. This is for the survival of this great Republic!
Basic SOP changes will be as follows.
You are strongly recommended to bring a long arm – you will be permitted to carry long arms at all times on post as per Arizona State law. Thousands of individuals violate our borders 24/7 with the consent of President Barack Hussein Obama, Janet Napolitano and John McCain – you are strongly encouraged to exercise your rights and duty as an American citizen to carry a long arm and if challenged use it to defend the United States of America – something Obama, Napolitano and McCain refuse to do.

Now that you’ve read it, or at least the bits I emphasized, I would hope it’s pretty damn clear that she was, in fact, telling people to bring guns and anyone who owns a gun (or at least most people who do) know full well what locked and loaded means. Her backpedaling now about not meaning what she very explicitly said is without a doubt a huge lie. Like I said, she just wants this to go away as quickly as possible and for it to not end up with her being in some kind of trouble. She’ll say anything she thinks she can say and get away with be it “bring your guns” or “I didn’t mean for you to really bring guns.”
And what’s really funny is her statement that they are disbanding the organization because they were afraid her “call to arms” would attract the wrong people to the border. Um, the Minuteman organizations ON THE WHOLE are already the wrong people to have standing around at the border. It’s not like she got responses to her email outraged she would suggest people come armed and ready. No, she got a positive response to her email request, which means the wrong people are already in her little thug club.
And you can’t tell me they weren’t already carrying loaded firearms on their little missions. Some of them were, so SOP wouldn’t have changed at all for some, if not many, of the members she sent the email. These people are crazy. The whole lot of them and not just the ones in Arizona.
