Hey, it’s Friday. Already. I feel like I have been moving at 100 mph all week, but now the week is at an end, and I feel like I haven’t gotten anything at all done with all that time. Of course, there was also a snow day, two migraines, and hormonal hell this week, so I’m not going to beat myself up about it too much. Well, then there were the Olympics too, which always end up being something of a time sink. Thank goodness they only happen every four years, or I’d never get anything done. I’m not even all that into sports, but I can’t stop watching.
Not much on the agenda today. I have to go back to the grocery store since I barely bought anything at all at my last visit. Still don’t feel energetic enough to spend too much time putzing around the grocery store, but we do need a few things to get through the weekend. I can’t really buy too much else, because tomorrow we go to the market to bet fresh meat for the freezer, and since I never know exactly what I’ll be coming home with, I can’t really plan ahead too much. Definitely looking forward to the spring season getting underway so I can stop buying so much produce at the grocery store. The quality is somewhat lacking, but I am sick to death of broccoli and cauliflower, which seems to be the only things growing in our area right now.
Lin wants to work in the yard this weekend. The weather should be nice, and the garden area could use some work, but I don’t think it’s warm enough yet to start any serious planting out there. I believe he wants to put in another raised bed, but rather than do that, I plan to set him to work tilling some more soil for planting, though not building any beds around it. Just don’t feel like investing any more money into the garden until I have at least one really successful growing season. So there will be one more 4′x8′ area where we do plan to add another raised bed, and Lin wants to put in a lot of corn this spring, so I guess he’ll be tilling up some of the area where that dead tree used to be. Hopefully all these freezes will come to an end soon so the soil temperature will start to come up some. I’m so ready to be planting and spending time in the garden, but it’s still just not feeling very spring-like out there.
Looking forward to Sunday when some of the members of the San Antonio contingent of the Just Orb family will be coming to Austin. Can’t wait! I’ll have to save some energy so I’m not the walking dead like I have been all week. It’s no fun at all hanging out with Zombie Orb.
The only other news is that after I get to the bank to deposit some checks, I think I will be entering the Master Knitter Course. With the iPad coming out soonish, I am loath to spend $100+ of my carefully saved up mad money on a knitting course, but I find I still really want to do it badly. I must, if I am willing to put potential iPad ownership on hold and spend my mad money, right? ‘Cause you gotta know, I really want an iPad, but I also want to get moving on earning that gold pin too!
I have so much stuff I wanted to rant about this week, but I just never found the time or energy to do it. Migraines will do that to a person. Maybe I’ll just do a big old link dump later and a little mini-ranting. Or maybe I’ll just press on and forget about this week’s stupid news about stupid people doing stupid stuff. It’s not like there won’t be all new rant-worthy news next week. That’s just a fact of life.
Time to go fix my second cup of coffee and make the shopping list. Today is likely going to be another long and energy draining day. Hopefully I can avoid another migraine, because two in one week is already two too many … and hopefully no more snow or bad weather either. I don’t need any more of either of those things.
Well … on with my day, I guess! Let’s see what life throws at me.
