It’s official. There’s something wrong with the alarm clock function on my cell phone, and now the procuring of a newer and fully functional cell phone is an imperative, whether I like the new phone as much as my old phone or not.
Same behavior as yesterday. The alarm sounded at 5:30 am, and I hit the snooze button, as I always do. I hit the snooze button again at 5:40 am. Today, unlike yesterday, I was awakened by the sound of everyone’s the trash being picked up on my street except mine –I’d not pushed it out to the curb yet, you see– and I laid in bed and stewed about that after looking at the clock to see what time it was.
The time when I was awakened by the sound of trash trucks in front of my house was 7:25 am. At 7:29 am, I opened my cell phone to see if I’d turned the alarm off by accident. It said the alarm was still in snooze mode. I closed the phone, and the alarm went off exactly ten minutes from the moment I opened the phone to check on the alarm status.
So something is wrong with the cell phone’s alarm clock, and if something is wrong with that, there are probably other things not working properly either or will be screwing up soon enough. Perhaps the fact my cell phone doesn’t ring out loud or vibrate when someone not in my contact list calls isn’t so much a feature as it is a bug. I recently added a phone number to my “silent ring” list (automated phone calls that just won’t stop calling), and after I did that, any phone call coming in from a number not actually listed in my contacts list only lead to me seeing a flashing screen and the caller getting voicemail. I thought I’d done something clever without knowing what I’d done, but no … it’s been my cell phone breaking at the end of my two year contract. Interesting how they always start to go at just the right time, isn’t it?
All of which is neither here or there and doesn’t solve the immediate crisis of my excessively full trash can not being emptied this morning and the trash not being picked up again until next Thursday. I guess I’ll just have to be trash creation frugal and stuff just a little more trash into the bin, or I may have to finally buy some extra bag stickers.
But first, I have to really look at the cell phones and make a decision, because it’s obvious now that my all-time favorite phone is on the fritz.
Today isn’t starting off much better than yesterday, but at least the trash trucks woke me up early and half my day isn’t gone already.
