She wants your life to be a child's subset of hers. Also, her attitude with you is likely the same one she displays around potential boyfriends. Were she to be involved with someone even slightly engaging, her hectoring on the phone would drop to near nothing. Given that's a non-possibility, she remains jealous of your 'exciting' life in the big city, your education, your man, etc. Your abandonment of her, Fredburg and all attendant provincial values is viewed as treason.
