If I had accidentally stepped on one of the mounds instead of just meeting up with a few on a plant, my sorry behind would have been in the emergency room. Too allergic to them to have them anywhere near me. So ... it's war, and all's fair in war, right? That sounds like fun! I love to torture them. One fun thing to do, is light a cigarette, and stick the butt end in the fire ant mound. They are stupid, so they attack the cigarette. They will run straight up it, and burn their legs off and fall down. LOL !!!! I get such joy from that! Then the next wave of those mindless little biting bastards run up and guess what? Yes Ma'am! Their legs burn off too! This is great entertainment while drinking beer with friends! It beats watching reruns! I used to work for a chemical company in Houston. Every once in a while I would take home a gallon of 97% sulfuric acid ,use a shovel to piss them off, and them melt them with acid.
