Special teams of Texas Rangers will be deployed to the Texas-Mexico border to deal with increasing violence because the federal government has failed to address growing problems there, Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday.
Perry has made it very clear in recent months that he would very much like the federal government to butt out of Texas’ doings. I remember very well him saying we don’t need or want help from the federal government and that Texas will take care of its own problems. I also recall him saying that if the “oppressive” federal government didn’t butt out of Texas’ doings, who knows where that might lead (like say, succession).
Funny how he changes his tune daily, depending on what it is he wants and needs from the federal government.
Sounds like just another boy conceived under the grandstand.
Perry has lost his mind. Oh, he always sucked as a governor, but mostly he could be ignored. Since the last presidential election though, he’s gone bonkers. He’s even starting to freak out the more normal and sane Republicans in Texas.
He takes federal law enforcement grant money and dishes it out to sheriffs, especially on the border. The result, he was endorsed by the Border Sheriffs’ Association. You know, for all the years I worked as a journalist I felt it would be unprofessional for me to get involved in active political campaigning. Now, well, I’m no longer a worker journalist…
