There are some storms moving across Texas again. I hold out little hope of them reaching Austin and dropping any rain, but if they do, I wish they would do so soon. I have somewhere to go in a few hours, and I decided it was too much hassle to drive Lin to work and drive home, and then have to go get him later, so I’ll be walking. While I don’t actually mind walking in the rain, I’d really rather not.
I was telling one of my friends yesterday that I wasn’t going to bother with all the truck hassle just so I could drive it 6 blocks of completely residential roads. She thought I was crazy. No, it’s not crazy to walk 6 blocks. Crazy would be driving a total of 40+ miles to avoid walking 6 blocks. That’s like two gallons of gas, and since said extraneous driving would be during morning and afternoon rush hours between Austin and Cedar Park, I don’t even want to guess how much time would be involved. Far more than the 15 minutes it takes me to walk 6 blocks, of that I am certain. Then I told her I was buying milk and Dr Pepper at the Walgreens on my way home, and I am pretty sure I heard her head explode. Yes, I can walk and carry things, and it doesn’t upset me to do it! I’m not an invalid!
Good grief, people are too addicted to cars.
Anyway, I wouldn’t mind some rain, but I’d rather not walk in it … mostly because my hair will look like it belongs on a banshee if I do. So please rain, but do it in the next couple of hours, please? Or wait until late afternoon. If it must rain while I am walking though, I’ll survive. It’s only water. I swear I won’t melt. I’ll just have insane hair from hell.
I already watered the garden really good. That’s how little I trust we will get any rain today. It always fizzles before it gets here.
