Executive Decision

I just made a executive decision concerning our home all by myself! I’m so proud.

Someone was knocking on the door and it was Grandma Latina and some guy I didn’t know. Obviously, even though I am still in my pajamas, I had to answer it. None of the neighbors ever knock on our door unless it’s important.

Grandma Latina had asked Austin Electric to put a light on our electric pole. It’s not just our pole. We share it with the Latinos, so they had to ask our permission first. Well, I said YES! We only have one streetlight on our street, and it’s always so dark at night. I don’t really mind the dark, but we were planning to put a security light up at the front of the house eventually, because Lin often has expensive equipment in his truck or on a trailer. Some light for security is nice. So now, we don’t have to put in our own light!

Had I known I could have called Austin Electric and requested they put in a light on that pole, I would have done that ages ago. Really, who knew? They don’t exactly advertise it as an option.

Now I don’t have to use my feeble porch light at night when taking out the trash or coming and going at night, though I will lose the nice hidden darkness of my front porch and my ability to sit out there at night watching strangers wandering through the ‘hood. Still, it’s a good thing. Saves us money on installing a security light and saves us having to pay the electric on it.

Yippee! We’re getting a new streetlight! Maybe someday we’ll have curbs, sidewalks and drainage!
