Tonight, there are all sorts of things to be recorded to the DVR. I remembered I needed to record the second episode of the Torchwood miniseries, so I sat down on the couch to do that. This caused a cascade of aggravation as I attempted to get all our shows recorded. The problem? For some insane reason, when I tried to record Warehouse 13 at it’s later time slot (because we already had two things recording during it’s earlier one), the cable box insisted I couldn’t record three things at the same time (true), but the only other thing I had recording during that time slot was The Daily Show.
I deleted all the recordings set for today, turned off the cable box, turned it back on, and started from the top.
Keith Olbermann from 7pm-9pm (to get both Keith and Rachel)
Torchwood from 8pm-9:15 pm
No problems so far!
The Daily Show from 10pm-11pm (to get both TDS and Colbert Report)
Warehouse 13 from 10pm-11pm
The cable box immediately said “NO!” The screen came up telling me I can’t record three shows at the same time, and then showed me the two shows I wanted to record and asked me which I wanted to cancel. Apparently, the cable box is now incapable of counting to three.
I deleted all of today’s set recordings a few times, trying different combinations and time slots, and it simply refuses to record more than one show during the 10pm-11pm slot.
Therefore, I have had to sacrifice Rachel Maddow’s show in order to get both Warehouse 13 and Torchwood recorded. I’m not overly heartbroken about that, but still … it’s annoying.
We have got to clear out the DVR and watch or record to DVD all the stuff on the box so I can get a new one. The one we have is obviously on the brink of a total meltdown.
