Itchy Scratchy
July 9th, 2009 - 11:43 am
All the driving is done. The kitchen is stocked with foodstuffs. Everyone I encountered while out and about was wonderfully pleasant. I only have one complaint (at this very moment — the day is young):
My toe has pretty much stopped hurting horribly, and it now it itches like it’s been bitten by a hundred fire ants.
Itching is good, but intense itching like this means that something in my toe was, in fact, broken last Friday. Just fractured, I’m sure, as nothing feels especially broken in two, but a bone had to have been cracked. I recognize this itch all too well from previous bone injuries.
The itching is rather maddening, because no matter how much I scratch, I will never be able to get at what’s really itching. I’m just going to keep reminding myself the itching is a good thing. It means it’s healing, and soon my toe will be back to 100%.
Now to have some lunch and wait to call Mom. She has her final follow-up appointment with the eye doctor today. She hasn’t been having any problems at all, but I know she’ll want to tell me all about it.
