Weekend in Progress

We are having our usual lazy weekend. It’s been nice.

Last night we watched all the big fireworks shows on TV. By unanimous vote, the New York show was the best (it always is) with the most new and unusual fireworks. Boston came in second. Washington, D.C. was about as traditional and boring as it ever has been. We flipped over to the local Austin show for about two minutes when it started, and well, it just can’t compare.

Then we watched Burn After Reading. I enjoyed it, even though there are a few instances of rather graphic and totally unexpected extreme violence (not really overdone in any way or gory, but REALLY unexpected). The acting was great (how could it not be with so many big stars), and the story was compelling. There were a number of laugh out loud moments. All around good movie, but not one I necessarily have to see again.

Today there’s been lots of TV watching, napping, and general puttering around the house. That will likely continue until after dinner (chili tonight). We do like our Sundays as lazy as possible.

Oh, and the toe is getting better. It doesn’t hurt nearly as badly now, but boy is it ugly! Still a little swollen, and now some bruising is working its way to the surface. My toe won’t be winning any beauty awards for a while. But at least I can putter around the house without the cane (still need it on uneven ground, and I don’t think I can push in the truck’s clutch pedal yet), and it doesn’t just sit there hurting while I am lying around not walking. If it keeps getting better at this rate, I should be almost back to normal by next weekend. I certainly hope so. Foot pain is the worst!

Well, I’m going to hobble to the living room, flop onto the couch, and continue my perfectly lazy Sunday. Monday morning will come soon enough, and then life will be getting back to as much of normal as it possible with a swollen, ugly, and somewhat painful toe. :P
