I Live in Hell

The level of “hot” outside today has been indescribable. Hell hot. We’ve spent almost the whole day hiding in the dark den at our respective computers trying to stay cool. Thank heaven for air conditioning.

Though I did get the okra and squash replanted this morning, and the garden watered. The watering really does no good, because the poor plants still wilt completely as soon as midday sets in. Too damn hot. I also built another ridiculous bamboo tripod for the cucumbers to climb, which was knocked over about 30 minutes later by the high winds that came blasting through the back yard.

We are out of paper towels, and we are almost out of toilet paper, and that means someone (me) may have to go to the store on a Saturday evening. I think I’d rather use pages ripped from the phone book than go to the store on a Saturday evening.

Today has not been a spectacularly great day.

{much later}

Oh … and I just went to start cutting up veggies for the Friday pizza we are having on Saturday, and that’s when I remembered I don’t have any parchment paper! I am NOT going to the grocery store until early tomorrow morning. Nothing, not even the lack of paper towels, toilet paper, or parchment paper can make me go to the grocery store!
