Trees Aren’t Cheap

The trip to the grocery store was pure insanity. I don’t want to talk about it. I’d rather forget it completely. Never again on a Monday. I know better.

When I got back, I had to maneuver around the tree murderers who were busy chopping some other trees on our street to bits. As I slowly inched my truck between their two poorly parked vehicles, I had enough time to notice they had cut down four baby trees … the very four that person had been asked by the city to plant right where they were planted! So much for the project to bring more shade to our inner-city street. What a waste of money. Trees aren’t cheap.

As soon as I got the groceries put away, I dashed out to the garden to unwind. Well, that didn’t really help much, because something had gnawed off and eaten two baby tomatoes and several flowers! The only thing they left behind was a small bit of poo. It didn’t look especially caterpillar-like. In fact, it was rather squirrelish in nature. Grrrr. I have seen some caterpillar damage on some plants lately, as well as killing some caterpillars, so I mixed up a batch of Bt and sprayed everything down. Won’t help against the squirrels, but it will do a number on the caterpillars. Go ahead and munch on my plants … and die a slow, painful, bacterial death!!! I don’t know what to do about the squirrels, but I suspect netting will be involved if they keep at my tomatoes.

Now I am looking at the rest of my list for today, and there is so much on it. I’m already beat and still feeling crappy. I think I’ll just get the kitchen in order for making dinner tonight. My laundry, the vacuuming, and everything else can just wait until tomorrow. When am I going to stop having this awful headache and get some energy back?! I’ve got things to do!
