Orb’s Magic Beans
April 25th, 2009 - 7:11 pm

Totally organic, tenderly cared for … they are Orb’s Magic Beans! Actually, they are Contender Bush Beans, and they look like they are going to be tasty. We’ll be eating them at lunch on Monday.
True to their word, these beans bloom like crazy, set fruit, and then stop blooming. There’s about a pot or two of beans for the two of us out there, and then that will be it I think. I have neglected to reorder the seeds and am out, so tonight, I will be ordering more seed to replant once the first planting is done producing. I should have ordered them sooner. I forgot. I’ve selected two healthy looking plants from the second planting that I will be allowing to go fully to seed either for planting in late summer or next spring.
I should have planted more beans. Next year, one of the new beds we plan to put in will be devoted 100% to beans. I can’t say it often enough that these beans are seriously the easiest thing ever to grow. They needed little care beyond planting and watering, and there have been no bugs even thinking about chewing on them. They even survived those two unexpected late freezes without so much as a single dead leaf. Hardy and easy! Gotta love it!
I’m ready for Lin to be home. I miss him. It’s just not the same around here without him. And … I want to eat the beans and that head of tasty looking lettuce, and I can’t do that until he comes home!
He’s heading home at some ungodly hour of the morning tomorrow and should be here by midnight. The long week is almost over! Yippee!
