Not Raining
April 24th, 2009 - 2:25 pm
It just keeps getting darker and darker outside, which means it keeps getting darker and darker in the house too. Even with the usual lamps on, it feels like it’s after sunset, and it’s only 2 pm! I wish it would just go ahead and rain already and get it done with.
I probably should have walked over to Walgreens earlier today. I wasn’t overly concerned about not having any milk, because I thought I had a box of powdered milk in the pantry. I can’t stand to drink the stuff, but it works just fine in my morning coffee and oatmeal. Alas, during the recent moth infestation, I apparently tossed the powdered milk. Wise choice, to be sure, as it was on the same shelf as the ten gazillion breeding moths, and it was in an insecure container (the box it came in). Surely it was infested with something moth related. Also, it was ancient. All the same, I have not had any coffee today, because I don’t have anything milk-like to put into it. I can’t do coffee without milk or cream. I also can’t do toast or oatmeal without butter. Well, I can, but I don’t enjoy it as much. So … I miss having butter too.
Yeah, I should have just braved maybe getting caught in rain earlier, because now it really looks like it’s going to rain. I’m never going to get to the store. Being without transportation sucks. Not knowing Lin was going to be gone much longer than I thought when I was at the store buying food for myself also sucks. I blame him entirely for my being without milk and butter and therefore not being able to enjoy coffee, toast, and oatmeal.
It’s thundering like crazy right now, but no rain. The radar shows it raining all around my area, as usual. Of course, I know, as soon as I step out on the front porch with the intention of walking to Walgreens, it will wait until I am halfway there to start raining on me … and if I decide not to walk to the store, it won’t rain at all. I’m going to watch the radar for a while, and then I think I might just make a dash to the store. It’s only a ten minute walk there and a ten minute walk back, and I bet the possibility of getting rained on puts a little more pep in my step too. ![]()
