This and That

Number of days it takes two vegetation management people to ponder the vegetation on my two block street: 10 days.

Number of days it takes a city work crew to follow through on the formulated vegetation management plan and decimate the trees on my two block street: .25 day (6 hours).

None of our trees were chopped up. We don’t have any that are close to any utility wires. They did do a number on the Latino family’s magnolia tree though. When they get home from work, I suspect there will be some grumbling.

In other news … there is no other news. I’ve had a dull afternoon. I ate lunch, did the dishes, took a nap, killed aphids, and played with the cats. Oh, and Lin called. He’s jamming with the guys in a studio, and at the moment is likely eating fresh and tasty White Castles. I’ll be having White Castles for dinner tonight too, but mine won’t be so fresh and tasty. Grrrr.

It looks like I may have to walk or bus to the grocery store tomorrow. I’m out of butter and milk. Not the end of the world. I’ll probably just live without milk and butter until Lin gets home. I don’t think I actually need it for anything.

Time to get the White Castles out of the freezer so they can thaw by the time I am hungry, then a cup of coffee out in the garden. I think I’ll play a video game this evening. There doesn’t seem to be much on TV tonight, and I don’t want to watch any of our regularly recorded shows, as I’d have to watch them again when Lin gets back. Or maybe I’ll find something else to do, like sew that cushion for the outdoor lounge chair. It’d be nice to be able to hang out in the back yard more comfortably, and all the stuff has been sitting in a pile for weeks now waiting to be put together. Or … maybe I’ll just be lazy. Being lazy is nice too.

Did I mention I miss Lin? Yup, really starting to miss him now. A couple of days is OK, because I have things to do to keep busy or I can spend a lot of time being really lazy, but now I am ready for him to get back. The house is too quiet at night, and the cats are driving me stark raving mad. Argh … just heard a crash from the other room. Guess I’ll close now and see what the beasts are up to this time!

Footnotes
  1. OK, I’m not out of milk. The milk has gone bad. Without Lin here drinking a bunch of milk with his cookies, there was no way for me to finish off a half gallon of milk before it turned. Tomorrow morning, the tomato plants will get a nice drink of slightly sour milk. They’ll love it. []
