OK, I finally had a bread failure. It had to happen eventually. I’ve had such fantastic luck since I started baking bread, I’ve been surprised by the fact I never had any kind of bread failure. Well, it finally did happen today.

Now in the bread’s defense, it’s not a brick, the texture is very nice, and it tastes great. It’s just the ugliest bread ever made. I am not sure what went wrong, as it seemed to be doing fine until the baking, when it suddenly took a turn toward being hideously deformed. I suspect the dough was too wet. I guess I’ll be making more bread this weekend, because as tasty as it is, it won’t work for sandwiches or toast. The two buns I made turned out just like the large loaf as well, which means there will be hamburger patties with bread on the side rather than homemade hamburgers for dinner. Poo.
But let’s not focus on today’s failure. Let’s focus on a success! The stash-busting sweater is going really well and coming together very quickly. I’ve only been working on it while we watch TV in the evenings for a couple of hours, and I’m almost ready to split off the sleeves and body! I’ll probably be ready to do that later tonight, and then it should go really quickly. So far, I love it, and I can’t wait to wear it!

So a failure and a success all in one day. That’s life in a nutshell. :)
