Lin just called to inform me Tractor Supply has a supply of chicks for sale. He seemed very relieved when I informed him I was not at all ready for chickens and hadn’t planned on getting any until next year. I do want some chickens, but I want to have a plan and a proper coup (and so on) before I do so. We are so not ready for chickens, and there’s going to be an initial investment involved that our budget is totally not ready for either. But yeah, eventually, we will have a few chickens … like maybe two or three.

The relief in his voice was so apparent though when I told him we didn’t need chickens right now. I guess maybe he thought I was thinking of getting them this year, which would have meant he’d have had to build some things for them. Not even on the list yet. First he needs to finish with that ridiculous dead tree and build the garden shed/workshop. Then we’ll worry about chicken shacks and chickens.
