Since I need to order more bean seeds soon, I decided to start deciding what is going in the fall/winter garden. That way I can order all the seeds at the same time. Here’s what I have decided on so far:
artichokes (for spring harvest)
broccoli
cauliflower
short-day onions
shelling pea (or maybe fava bean)
fennel (not sure about this)
lettuce
spinach
carrots
radishes
strawberries
garlic
No plan yet as to where to any of them are going to go. I need to hit my notes to see about the companion plantings possible, plus making sure to rotate where I have had the heavy feeders and the nitrogen fixers this summer to even things out again. I have never had a fall/winter garden before, so naturally, I am expecting total failure. At least that way, I’m not let down when it totally fails, right?
Enough dreaming about fall and winter gardens. Time to go pull the weeds in the garden of right now!
