Bread Update
March 24th, 2009 - 7:52 am
The first rise went well. Kneading it was a pure joy. It was the silkiest and softest bread dough I have ever created. The second rise seems to have gone well too. It’s in the oven now, and in 30-45 minutes, I’ll know the result of all this fussing. I sort of screwed up and forgot to dust the parchment paper with flour, so it may stick to the paper and cause a problem. Or it may not. This is the first time I’ve used parchment paper under a bread loaf while baking. Another experiment.
I’m going to go hover over my garden for a little while, now that the sun, such as it is, is up. It’s going to be another overcast day today, but I seriously don’t think we’ll get any rain. I’m going to go ahead and water a little. My plants need it, and a little extra water isn’t going to hurt them. My soil is VERY well draining. Maybe too well. It seems like I have to water more than I should just to keep the soil moist at all.
Anyway, keep your fingers crossed that the bread turns out to be bread. I want to go get some sleep eventually, and if it isn’t bread when it’s done, I’ll have to stay awake and bake my usual bread recipe … or no grilled cheese sandwiches at dinner tonight.
