My no-knead bread dough is bubbling away quite nicely. It’ll be coming up on 12 hours of sitting shortly. I’m going to let it go until I get done running errands this morning, do the rest of the prep work, and then it can do its second rise while I am puttering in the garden. I’m starting to wonder if my ceramic pot is large enough for it. I may cut the dough into two pieces and put one in the fridge until tomorrow. Some people have reported the flavor improves with doing that, and that way I won’t have one huge and oddly shaped loaf of bread. I’ve been trying to decide what to coat the outside with. Some people use cornmeal, but I’ve never been fond of that, and I don’t have any coarsely-ground wheat at the moment. Thinking of using oatmeal, since I have it, and at least it would look nice. I have no idea how this bread is going to taste. I did take liberties with the recipe, as I always do.
Got up on a stool to check on my future sourdough starter. There are already some small bubbles! Have to wait until tonight to feed and mix it, but so far so good. In a few days, maybe I’ll be making some sourdough bread.
Not only did I forget the Dr Pepper when I was at the grocery yesterday, but I forgot to get pepper too. It was on the list as well! Apparently I had a complete brain-fart over the word “pepper” yesterday. Soda we can live without for a few days, but it’s not possible to go without pepper for an entire weekend. Therefore, I must return to the grocery store today. Since I have to go out for those things, I might as well go get cat food too. They are going to run out sometime on Saturday, and as history has proven, I never remember to go get it on Saturday before it’s too late and the feed store is closed. Better go get it today, or there will be grumpy kitties. Besides, maybe the feed store will still have some tomato plants, so I can kill two birds with one stone.
Speaking of kitties … Ronin is still occasionally hissing at Tora, but this morning all three of them were back to their usual morning activity of running around the house together like wild things. I believe Ronin is coming to terms with the fact that Tora is back, and no, she isn’t leaving again. Though he does seem a little confused in his emotions. Just a few minutes ago, Tora walked up to him, and he started grooming her as he usually does, then … he remembered he was peeved and grumpy about her and hissed at her. Poor Tora! I think things will be completely back to normal, as far as the cats are concerned, by tomorrow.
Time to go make myself some coffee and start getting pumped up for the day. I don’t really feel like having coffee, but I do feel like having more energy than I do, so coffee it is. :P
