The stool I use at my drafting table is nowhere near said drafting table, owing to Tora’s use of the stool to gain access to the top of the table and then the top of the fridge. All the same, I found one small cat on top of the fridge an hour ago. Well, she won’t be doing any of that for a while after she gets back from the vet tomorrow. I’m going to use the time to find somewhere else to store the things I don’t want cats to get into. It’s obvious to me now she is not going to give up on claiming the top of the fridge. No sense fighting a losing battle. I’ll make it kitty friendly, and she can have at it until she’s too tubby to haul herself up the extremely steep slope of the drafting table. The other two used to try for it too, but once they achieved adult cat size, their lard butts kept them from even getting to the top of the table. As spoiled as these cats are, Tora will eventually get a little too tubby too.
Now she’s sleeping in the cat carrier. The other two cats keep staring at her from the hall like she’s insane. Why would anyone willingly go anywhere near the cat carrier?! No good ever comes from it! They won’t even be in the same room with it without giving me and it the stink eye.
I was sort of hoping to convince Lin he wanted to drive Tora and I to the clinic tomorrow, but he’s got to leave early to get to a job site out of town, so I am on my own. I expected that, so I planned out two possible routes to get there. One way takes roads I know well until the last leg of the journey, but it cuts right through town with a lot of lights and probably a lot of traffic. The other is on a highway but is a really straight shot with fewer lights, but possibly far more traffic (a common commuter route). I’ll watch the traffic cams in the morning and make a final decision, but I’ll probably still choose to take the roads I know over the highway I don’t. At least I know what to expect on Lamar and Airport. It’ll be hell, but it’s a familiar hell. I’ve also decided to leave at 7 am, which will likely get me there WAY early, but better way early than late.
Still a little stressed about the whole thing, but I think once I get done with the trip there, meet the people at the clinic, and get her checked in, it’ll be better. At least on the return trip, I’ll no exactly where I am going, right? Also, Lin reminded me that it’s Spring Break, so most of the UT students are out of town. Traffic might not be so bad, except that the traffic is really always bad, no matter what. Austin drivers are insane. I’ll just keep in mind that a) it has to be done, and b) I get to stop at a feed store and buy a few things for the garden. Shopping therapy as bribery to get me out of the house to do things I need to do almost always works. :P
Time for bed. Hope I can sleep. I slept horribly last night, which was OK, since I could go back to bed once I got Lin off to work. I can’t go back to bed tomorrow, so I better get some sleep tonight. Maybe I should have a nice strong cocktail. That usually puts me under in no time at all. The chamomile tea I drank has done nothing at all to make me any more relaxed or sleepy. Really never does, but I thought I’d try anyway. Should have gone for the cocktail right away. :dizzy:
