NOTE: This post has spawned a bit of a side rant concerning character and the memory holing of data.
The FBI has been searching the offices of the Washington, D.C. Chief Technology Officer this morning. Naturally, right wing Republican internet sites and users are foaming at the mouth about it (really, read some of the comments at the previous link), because Vivek Kundra, previously the Washington, D.C. Chief Technology Officer, was recently appointed by Obama as the federal government’s Chief Information Officer. Naturally, the FBI raiding Kundra’s former offices is just more proof of Obama and all his appointments being the biggest batch of criminals ever!
I tend to do a little research before jumping to any major conclusions about whether or not someone is a criminal, just because the FBI is crawling all over a place they used to work, and sure enough, I found a little tidbit in the news … only mentioned in one news source so far (because the FBI raid is far more exciting than mentioning someone from that office had already been arrested this morning).
An official in the D.C. government’s office of the chief technology officer has been arrested in a federal bribery sting, according to law enforcement sources. Yusuf Acar, 40, was taken into custody this morning by FBI agents at his home in Northwest Washington, the sources said.
The criminal they are investigating over there is most likely the one they already have in their hands: Yusuf Acar. Unless guilt-by-association is still in effect. Have we beaten that out of people’s heads yet? Probably not.
Good thing most people don’t know what kinds of things the people they associate with are up to in their spare time. A lot of people would have to declare themselves guilty just for knowing such low-life, criminal, perverted, and freakish folks. ;)
I’d comment over at Politico, but I wouldn’t want to ruin their foaming-at-the-mouth fun. They do love to get their Obama hate on over there.
UPDATE: Another arrest has been made in the bribery case: Advanced Integrated Technologies Corporation President and CEO Sushil Bansal. Still no connection to Obama’s appointee … not that anyone is paying any attention to that fact.
