Lin: So is this stuff from our garden?
Orb: Everything but the tomato.
Lin: No wonder it looks like weeds.
Yeah, my hubby is a comedian. All the little baby veggies were really good though! It was so fun going out before dinner and picking some stuff to eat right away. I can’t wait until there’s more stuff growing growing and doing that becomes a regular activity.
Lin built my second raised bed today too! I didn’t think he would, since he had so much trouble changing the bearings on his truck, but he got it done too! Tomorrow, we’ll add some more dirt and compost, and then it will be ready for planting. Wheeeee!
I planted the potatoes today. I hope they grow and provide us with potatoes at some point. Tomorrow I’m going to go buy peanuts and get those planted in that bed as well. As soon as the okra I planted Saturday sprouts, I’ll be planting the lemon cucumbers, and then the first raised bed will be full. I hope to get the tomato bed planted this week with seedlings and seeds (and hopefully a plant or two). We have a mild cold front blowing in later this week and some serious storms (they say), so I might wait until that passes. Right now, I can still haul all my tomato seedlings indoors if I have to. I’m not worried about it getting too cold, but heavy rain (and maybe hail) could blast them out of the ground. Though you know I am eager to get going on the new raised bed.
The gardening thing is really starting to be fun, and I can see that things are going really well. In no time at all, we’ll be eating veggies that aren’t baby-sized!
