I should go get cat food today. I bought them the only cat food I could find at the grocery store that had meat as its first ingredient rather than grain, but they really do prefer the good stuff we get at the feed store. But it’s chilly and gray outside and threatening to rain, and it’s Monday when everyone else who has errands they need to run usually run them. These are all perfectly valid reasons to not go driving around town buying cat food or anything else, and I do have other things I need to buy and do … like go to the bank, buy some groceries, get some yarn.
OK, the yarn is more of a want than a need, but I have finally decided what I want to make with that awesome yarn Kenno sent me from New Zealand, but I need a small skein of coordinating novelty yarn in order to start on it. There’s a nice ribbon yarn on sale this week, so I thought I’d splurge a whole $2 and get some. Not that I am likely to walk out of the store with only one skein of yarn and only spending $2. I haven’t bought any yarn in ages, and well … I am having cravings, and the sale prices are too good too ignore.
Not that great prices on pretty yarn is enough to drag me out of the house and into the world on a chilly, damp Monday. The temperature has dropped several degrees in the last hour, and the sky just keeps getting darker. So no, great sales on fancy yarn won’t be enticing me to jump in the truck and run errands today. Neither will the overly grumpy cats or the fact I really do need to go to the bank and go buy food. I’m digging in and sitting on the couch today … sneezing and being grouchy and knitting.
Unless, of course, the urge to splurge on yarn becomes too great and the temperature takes a turn more toward warm. I am seriously feeling the need for some shopping therapy, and for me, yarn shopping is the best therapy of all.
