The Plan
February 10th, 2009 - 7:26 am
Today’s mission, provided it doesn’t rain too much and I can get outside, is to remove pebbles from the dirt in my raised bed. I would have also planned to plant the first six square feet of veggies (lettuce, carrots, scallions, and a few marigolds) too, but it looks like there’s going to be some big storms tonight. So removing pebbles it is, and tomorrow adding just a little more dirt. I guess I’ll be planting on Thursday. I am so excited!
What I am not so excited about is the fact that something ate the leaves off the sole surviving Sugar Snack tomato plant I had. I don’t know if it will sprout more. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see. Hope so, as I was hoping to have more than one kind of cherry tomato. Maybe I’ll buy a plant or two. One can never have too many tomatoes.
The only other plan for the day is to knit some more of the shawl project I started this weekend. I’ve made it about half way, and it will be just the thing to toss around my shoulders while I am puttering out in the yard in the early mornings when it’s still a little chilly.
I continue to stand by my assessment that there will be a near freeze or light freeze around my birthday (2/20), and that will be the last of the freezing … and planting will begin in earnest the first and second week in March. Woot!
