Since it’s warm today, and I was well-rested and bored, I cleaned out the other Earthbox and planted the lettuce. The radishes in the first box are doing good. The first batch has started to get their second set of leaves, and most of the second batch have sprouted. Not long now and we’ll be eating homegrown radishes! If everything works out, I’ll be thinning the lettuce sprouts at the same time as the first baby radishes will be ready to eat, and we can have a baby veggie salad! Wheee!
And while I am trying not to nag Lin about my raised beds not being finished yet, I’m starting to get a little antsy about it. I’m a week behind my planting schedule already, and I don’t really want to get too much later. If we want big lettuce and carrots, I need those beds ready ASAP! He said he’s going to work on them this weekend, so I guess we shall see. Tomorrow, I may start nagging.
Also, I moved the seedlings — what’s left of them — out to the porch to get some fresh air and real sunshine. Since the weather is supposed to be pretty mild for the next few days, I think I’ll just put the little clear cover on it and leave them out there overnight. Starting the seeds early hasn’t gone so well, and I’m pretty peeved about it. I guess I don’t be bothering doing that again until I have a proper set-up with the right kinds of lights and stuff. It was worth trying, and the ones that are doing good are doing really good, but none of the tomato seedlings are going to make it. Oh well. It was worth trying anyway. I guess I won’t be having those super-early tomatoes I was hoping for.
Now I need to go call my mom, since I haven’t talked to her in days, and then some knitting is in order.
