Death in the Kitchen

I don’t know what went wrong, but most of my seedlings are dead or dying. Too warm? Not warm enough? To wet? Not wet enough? Too much light? Not enough light? The wrong kind of light? I really don’t know. They were doing really good, and then they just died. I am trying not to be too disappointed.

The marigold seedlings are going great though, as are the peppers (so far). I did replant some of the tomato seeds the other day, so I will see how those do, but I won’t be replanting any more of them. I guess I’ll just wait until I can plant them outside in the beds. That means no really early tomatoes for us. Well, it was my first time trying this, and my set up wasn’t exactly perfect.

On the other hand, the radishes are doing great in the box out on the porch, and last year’s tomato plants seem to be doing just fine … growing new leaves and stems, and one of them even tried to bloom (though I nipped that right away — way too early for any flowers).

OK, I am totally failing at not being disappointed about the untimely death of my tomato seedlings.

What will I do if the same thing happens when I plant them outside?! I’ve never planted a whole garden from seeds before. What if I totally fail before I even get started?!?! The pressure to produce is killing me!
