Today’s the Day!

I had planned to run to the grocery store this morning as soon as Lin was off to work to get something special for dinner tonight — our own little inaugural celebration, but the temperature outside dropped a lot last night. I have determined the combination of really chilly air and my current state of allergy suffering is reason enough to make do with what we have. Looks like it’ll be round steak, carrots, potatoes, and salad for dinner.

CNN has been on since we got up this morning, and the crowd was already insanely huge before the sun even came up in D.C.! I’m sort of sad not to be there. If we lived within easy driving distance, we probably would have braved the madness and freezing temperatures, but traveling across country to suffer through it didn’t seem worth it. We’ll have a front row seat right in our living room, and we won’t have to wear every piece of clothing we own in order to stay warm. Not that I didn’t seriously think about going all the way out to D.C. — I very seriously did. Instead, we’ve decided that sometime in the next four years, we will go to D.C. for a vacation, something both of us have always wanted to do, and we’ll go when the weather is much, much nicer. No 8ºF wind chill temps for this Texas girl, thank you very much!

I am so excited about today. Thanks to the Cedar Fever, I didn’t get much sleep at all last night, and I was afraid I would have trouble even staying awake long enough to see the swearing in, but with the help of a little coffee and Dr Pepper, I think I’ll have no problem staying awake. Too giddy to lay down and snooze!

Time to go take a nice hot shower. When I walked Lin out to the truck a while ago, I got a terrible chill, and now I can’t get warm no matter how high I turn the furnace. I’m sure it actually is warm in here, but I am not feeling it.

Yippee! Inauguration day is finally here! No more Bush!!! :bounce:

  1. I didn’t vote for Obama, but Obama is our president, and unlike the Bush Haters, I wish the new president well. That was always the problem with the Bush Haters, they wished him ill and hope he would fail, never thinking those failures would have a direct impact on all of us.
