Windy, Windy Day

We went and looked at stoves (again), and then we ran my errands. The print turned out fine, but the stupidity of the people working at HEB’s Photo Center means I will be going back to using Walgreens. It’s worth a few extra cents a print to not have to deal with stupid people (and she was the manager too). I found the perfect matte at the craft store, and a cheap (but the right color) wooden frame. Tomorrow, I think I may paint the frame black though. I haven’t decided yet. Then we found a Dell USB keyboard and mouse for my mom at the discount computer place. They feel so dinky and cheap (and they were CHEAP), but the budget is tight, and they’ll keep her going until we can get her something better.

So it’s the day after Xmas, and my Xmas shopping is finally done! Go me!

I’ve also got something planned I want to make my for my mom for her birthday (which is today), but I want to wait until I can spend a little money buying just the right supplies for it. The various fabrics and crafty stuff I have aren’t quite right, and I want it to be really nice. So I guess Mom will be getting her birthday present in January. What can I say? I suck at deadlines!

Also, we went to this music store today, and I am in love with the place! The people are awesome and super-friendly, and they have a little bit of everything for every musical need … like a fantastic collection of sheet music. Not that I really need any more sheet music, since I do have a nice collection, but one can never have too much sheet music, right? Well, that’s my theory, and I’m sticking to it.

Also, they do bow re-hairing and violin repair, and the prices are very reasonable. In a couple of months, I think I’ll take my violin in and have them reset the tone post and either re-hair my crappy bow or maybe get a new one. It costs $50 to re-hair and she has some bows for $60. Might as well get a new one and not have to be embarrassed by the fact mine has been repaired with superglue after an unfortunate teenager temper tantrum. I don’t know that I will be keeping the violin or selling it, but if it’s fixed up, I have either option available to me. Who knows, maybe once it’s been repaired and re-haired I’ll want to play it again. Stranger things have happened.

The sun finally came out today, but it’s so damn windy it’s not very pleasant being outside. I almost got blown over when I went to check the mail. The wind is just crazy right now! I think I’ll set up the piano and practice for a while. I’ve been wanting to do that all day, but one thing after another came up. I’m trying to have the first three pages of Cristifori’s Dream down well enough by Sunday so I can take the piano along and play it for my mom.

I may wait to take it until next trip though. I haven’t made a case for it yet, and I’m not entirely comfy thinking about just throwing it in the truck behind the seats. Mom will be disappointed if I don’t bring it, but if anything happened to it, I would be devastated. I’ve got a few videos of me playing, and I can record myself with the press of a single button, so maybe I’ll just send her a few of those until I have a proper case for the thing.

Anyway … time to practice piano and make Lin crazy. He made me crazy earlier with his guitar practicing, and now it’s my turn!
