The brats have been on a bit of a diet lately, owing to the fact that all three of them were getting a wee bit too rotund. OK, actually Ronin was getting way too rotund, and the other were showing signs of heading down that path themselves. Whereas in the past I would ask the cats “Hungry?” and get a half-hearted response, maybe a head turn or an open eyelid, I now have three cats running to the kitchen like crazed wild things, and all three of them sit and eat more than a bite or two of food. This is the appropriate response to my inquiry.
Ronin and Tora don’t particularly care which bowl they eat out of and will often switch bowls several times while eating. Obviously, the food is always better in the other bowl. But no one, and I mean NO ONE, touches Myu’s blue bowl but Myu. If she can’t get to that bowl, she’d just rather not eat. Picky, picky, picky … and spoiled.
And the diet is going well. Tora still has a good level of kitten pudge, Myu has lost enough to be considered a healthy weight, and Ronin has taken off a couple of pounds but is still far too fat for his own best interests. I may end up having to get him diet cat food and feeding him in a separate room. This would be considered a major pain in my butt, but … an overly fat cat is not a healthy cat, and I can’t afford to have unhealthy cats. The boy has got to lose some weight.
