If I was feeling sick before I got the estimate for the rest of my dental work, I am now officially sick. Can’t afford it. Can’t afford any of it. I’m just going to let them all break and rot out of my mouth until I am a toothless alcoholic hag with a mouth full of pain, and then I’m going to kill myself. Think I’m kidding? I don’t think I am. It was hard enough coming up with the several thousand dollars already spent, but now … another $14,000. It’s just not possible.
And the dentist I saw today was a bitch on top of it all.
It may be quiet around here for a while, as I am planning on being depressed now.
Ack. Sticker shock. I got it when I had my porcelain crown a few months back. My heart goes out to you … there are few things as disappointing as getting one’s hopes up and then having them dashed. I thought I would never be chewing on both sides of my mouth again. [e-hugz] Hang in there, my friend.
The thing that has me pissed off is that she stated quite clearly that all these crowns could be fillings, but that crowns are better and wouldn’t need to be replaced (as soon). Yeah, great. How about we stop the damage now with fillings and replace them with crowns as I can … not put a whole mouth full of crowns in right away. “But crowns are beeettttteeeer! And you’ll have problems with fillings! And we have to start on your bridges right away!” I haven’t had any problems with any of the fillings I have had. The crowns I spent a fortune on? Those teeth are now no longer in my mouth. So which was the better investment? I mean, I’m not shooting for pristine perfect teeth like one would see on a model in Vogue. I just want them to work and to stop getting worse.
Now I’m just pissed off. And depressed. It’s such a great mix of feelings.
Sorry you are having problems Orb.
I know an excellent dentist down in Mexico. He used to have an office in the USA, but went back to Mexico because of too high taxes. He was trained here in the US. He is putting a porcelain on a friend of mine for $150. Another friend had all of his teeth pulled and had dentures made all for $1,200. They say he is very good and very proficient. If you want I can send you his contact information. He is just across the Texas Border in a good part of Mexico.
Good Luck.
Is he in Juarez? Someone I was talking to last year went to someone there, and they said DO IT. I’ve been thinking about Mexico dentistry for months, because it seems like such a good deal. Do send the information!
