Turmoil

When I opened the front door to go check my plants and water the lawn, in ran New Kitty. OK, I guess we’ll have another meet-n-greet for the cats, I thought. More hissing and hovering for ten minutes.
Myu just watches and hisses occasionally. Ronin, on the other hand, has decided he is not at all happy with this interloper being in the house. The kitten completely ignores them.
After a little while, Ronin was getting far too agitated, so I took the kitten back outside. I feel badly about that, but I don’t have a spare room to put the kitten into for this “getting to know you” stage of things, and I can’t just let it run free in the house without constant supervision. All hell would break lose eventually.
I guess we’ll just keep letting her come in a few times a day, as she likes, and keep at it. It may not work out. As much as I’d like to keep the kitten myself, rather than finding it another home, I also don’t want to completely piss off the brats. They were here first, after all, and they are my spoiled rotten babies. I’m hoping they will all eventually get along, but I’m not holding my breath about it. Ronin is really, really annoyed.
Tomorrow once the cats and I have the house to ourselves, I’m going to give the kitten a bath and flea treatment (still haven’t seen any fleas, but better safe than sorry). Then I guess I might see if I can kitten proof the bedroom. The problem with using the bedroom as a kitten holding cell is that I wouldn’t be able to let the cats into the bedroom at night, and I can guarantee they will take that badly.
I don’t know. I really don’t know what to do. I wasn’t exactly expecting an increase in the cat population, and I didn’t have time to prepare. I was ready for the old outdoor cats, because all they need is food, water, and the occasional ear scratching. A kitten is a lot more work than that, and I am feeling upset about it being outside. I’ve never been on the outdoor cat bandwagon. Though our street is extremely safe for animals. In the five years we’ve lived here, no animal of any kind has ever been found squashed on the road, and there are all sorts of stupid animals living outside … both wild and domestic. But still, kittens shouldn’t be outside, even if they want to be. Ugh.
Wish this was going to be easier, but it isn’t is it? There are going to be days of hissing and growling, and all manner of turmoil in the household. Why’d the stupid neighbors have to bring home a kitten two days before they left for good and not take it with them? Asses.
