That’s Momma Cat’s baby. I thought they took this one with them, but no. I just found her hanging out in the back yard. This one can certainly be rehabilitated into a wonderful pet for someone. She’s sweet, and she wants to trust people, but she’s very skittish. I’d have “stolen” this one from them ages ago, but they swore they loved her so much, so I didn’t want to be an ass.
The cat count, as more of the far-rangers have come home today, now stands at five, most of which won’t ever be actual pets for anyone. Too wild and old and set in their ways, which won’t stop me from trying to gain their trust. I may have to call the catch-and-release group in town so we can at least make sure they are neutered and spayed. L. always said they would get it done, but like I trust them to tell the truth about anything?
Oh, and Annoying Boy isn’t gone yet. They moved their stupid trailer down to Pat’s and he’s going to be there through the week while his parents stay in a motel. They still haven’t closed on their new home yet. And the really stupid thing I learned today? They bought the double-wide based on her income at the corner gas station, but she can’t possibly be thinking of continuing to work there, seeing as they are moving way out into the country … about 20 miles away. I’m trying to feel some concern about their plight, but basically all I am feeling is happiness that they are finally gone and I can finally get to the task of rescuing these poor cats or at least improving their lives. The cat thing has been bugging me since we moved here.
