Listening to the radio on my way back from the grocery store, I am left with one question I have to ask.
How stupid do you have to be to stop and ask a cop in front of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. for directions while you have a rifle, ammo, and a homemade bomb in your truck, obviously visible enough to arouse suspicion?
Pretty damn stupid, I’d say.
I bet he was Republican! :bounce:
Heh
You know over here they tell you not to bother asking American cops for directions because the answer will be “Get a map.”
Do they really, Ekim? Probably good advice. You never know what sort of personality you’ll run into when talking to someone in a cop’s uniform. They might be helpful, or they might not.
It’s one of those cultural difference things. Over here a beat cop who has a problem being asked for directions will be counselled on his community … busswordiness. In the US we’re told it’s just not in their job description.
Well, that’s the first thing. We really don’t have beat cops. Might be different in other cities, but around here, you’d have to flag down a cop cruising around in his car in order to ask him anything.
Though there have been odd walking cops coming through our neighborhood recently. They don’t seem very “beat cop” like though. They march in a set of two down the middle of the street, or cruise through slowly in their car, and they don’t wave, smile, or speak to anyone. They just glare at people and try to look into everyone’s house and yard. May be asking the local substation head soon what the hell that is about. It’s becoming a bother.
