Let’s Surge

Mccain, in response to the question “What is your administration going to do to help reduce crime in America?”

And some of those tactics — you mention the war in Iraq — are like that we use in the military. You go into neighborhoods, you clamp down, you provide a secure environment for the people that live there, and you make sure that the known criminals are kept under control. And you provide them with a stable environment and then they cooperate with law enforcement.

I would like to express the sentiment that if the police swarmed my neighborhood and behaved any more militaristic than they already do, I, as a law-abiding resident here, would not view that as a positive in any way. I do not want to live in downtown Baghdad. Contrary to what many in the government and media would have me believe, things aren’t so rosy for the law-abiding over there. They can kiss my ass if they think I’d take kindly to anyone imposing insane curfews, demanding I prove my right to be in the area at any moment, and cops in full SWAT regalia standing around on street corners with firearms.

I also continue to be dumbfounded by the fact someone I was prepared to vote for the last time he ran for the office of President has seemingly gone stark, raving, bat-shit insane. The stuff that comes out of his mouth these days is not the McCain I used to know and like. I wouldn’t even call him McBush. He’s an all new and worse kind of nuts.

    Orb,
Being retired law enforcement you probably won’t find this very surprising, but there are areas of this country that are controlled by gangs, and the PD’s of this country are in a constant war with these gangs. The History Channel has/had a series titled, “Gangland”, which tells the story of present day gangs that control major portions of the nation’s inner-cities. In Los Angles alone there is an estimated 130,000 gang members, mostly Hispanic. The days of the Bloods and Crips has ended forcing them to bond together for self-protection from the ever growing Hispanic gangs: Mexican Mafia, Mara Salvatrucha “MS-13″, Nuestra Familia etc. Motorcycle gangs, the big 4, : Hells Angels, Outlaws, Pagans, and Bandidos. Midwest inner-city gangs: The 18th Street Gang, Latin Kings. East coast is a mix of everything plus your Cuban, Colombian and Mafia. Then there are the Skinheads, Aryan Brotherhood, KKK. Then you also have the up and coming wannabees, trying to make their own mark, establish their own presence. America since it’s very birth has always had gangs, but today’s gangs are more menacing, larger, well organized, well funded, and very well armed. You either have law and order, or you have anarchy. Sometimes it will mean relinquishing some of your rights until law is established. This is not a perfect world, you either allow them to exist,or you try to remove them.

    Texas has the following gangs:
    1.Mexikanemi (Mexican Mafia) (EME)
    2.Texas Syndicate (TS)
    3.Raza Unida (RU)
    4.Hermano Pistalero Latino (HPL)
    5.Texas Chicano Brotherhood (TCB)
    6.Barrio Azteca (BA)

    White Gangs:
    1.Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT)
    2.Aryan Circle (AC)
    3.Texas Mafia (TM)

    Black Gangs: (2)
    1.Bloods
    2.Crips
