Broken Peacefulness

It’s amazing how what had been a completely quiet and peaceful neighborhood during the Insane Neighbors’ absence immediately became utterly noisy within hours on sunrise the night after their return. Yesterday it was loud talking outside non-stop, friends with extremely noisy motorcycles stopping by to visit and them all taking turns driving the bike down the street as fast as they could, and all manner of banging and thumping noises coming from the carport and back yard. At least they simmered down by the time I was ready to get some sleep.

They started early this morning. There have been visitors stopping by all morning, and thus, there has been loud, loud talking as well. I don’t mean the occasional loud outburst or loud enough I can hear it when I am in the bedroom right by their driveway. I mean constant, non-stop, loud talking I can hear when I am in the den on the far side of the house. I don’t even have to bother to go to the bedroom to spy on them. I can hear it all, right here at my computer. My gods, these people all talk so loud!

Even more fun than the loud talking are the occasional strange noises. I did just have to go to the bedroom to see what the hell was going on, because I heard a car driving down the street, I heard it toot its horn three times, and then I heard something that sounded like a car running into something. Before I even got into the bedroom to peep through the blinds, I could hear the Insane Neighbor Lady being loud and distressed. I stuck my eyeball against the mini-blinds, and apparently one of their friends had pulled into the driveway too quickly, hadn’t stopped in time, and ran his little car right up under the Insane Neighbors’ huge SUV. He now has a dent in his hood to remind him of his stupidity. I had to make haste back to the den so I could laugh out loud.

I know it’s wrong to laugh at the less fortunate and stupid, but not being able to pull into a driveway without running into a parked car? Seems to me, that is far enough down on the intelligence bell curve, I should be allowed to laugh at anyone who does such a thing.
