I can’t find my diamond earrings. They aren’t in the little shell box I “always” keep them in. I have searched all other possible locations. I wore them to the company Xmas party, a fact I was only able to verify by looking at the photos. I had a good bit of wine at dinner that night, so who knows where I, in an intoxicated state, might have put them for safe-keeping. I certainly didn’t put them back in their proper location in the shell box where they have been kept since Lin gave them to me.

It’s not like they were huge rocks or anything, but I’m more than a little distraught.

For all I know, the got knocked off a shelf and vacuumed up, or maybe one of the cats ate them. I don’t know. What I do know is they are not actively in my possession, I have not clue one as to where they might be, and I’m sick about it.

Even when I haven’t had a good bit of wine with dinner, I sometimes put things in the strangest of places for safe-keeping though, so they may still be somewhere in this house … safe and sound and still 100% lost to me. Just like all my other nice jewelry I packed “safely” when we moved and have since not rediscovered.

I’m stupid, and I suck at keeping my nice jewelry safe. Won’t be a problem anymore, because the only really nice jewelry I have left in my actual possession are my various graduation rings. How I have managed to not lose them in all these years in a miracle. Oh wait, no it’s not. I have never put them in anything or anywhere to keep them safe, because they didn’t mean much to me.
