Far Too Early

The cats were rowdy far too early this morning, so both of the humans have already been awake for several hours. Don’t the cats know it’s Sunday and a day of rest?!

I used my extra early morning hours to install the latest version of Wordpress in my server sandbox. I won’t be upgrading. I still hate the user interface on the back-end, and the Livejournal cross-poster plugin doesn’t work with it. My blogging life depends on being able to cross-post things at both locations instantaneously without me having to fuss with it. No sweat off my brow. I didn’t want to upgrade right now anyway.

Lin asked what I was doing, to which I replied I was working on my web site. “I guess you’ll be doing that all day.” Hardly. I no longer have the patience to sit at the computer all day and work on my web site. Besides, there isn’t that much work to do. Then he asked what anniversary my site will be celebrating at the end of this month. I had to look it up. It will be seven years with a domain name and twelve years of non-stop babbling on the internet. That’s just crazy, isn’t it?

I don’t think we have any plans for the day. I’d like to go do something, but it will have to be something that costs nothing. It’s the weekend in between paydays, and money is, as always, tight. I would like to go to a used book store today though, because I really need something new to read. It feels odd not having a stack of books sitting in the living room either being read or waiting to be read. This rarely happens.

I did start a new digital art project last night. The Walgreens by my house has finally gotten with the “online upload and print and pick up at the store” bandwagon. My printer has been out of ink forever, and spending $90 on ink is not at all a priority of any sort, but the prices to get things printed at Walgreens is very reasonable, and it doesn’t just have to be actual photographs. Their printer doesn’t know the difference between a fractal and a cat.

Speaking of cats, I wore them out with playing with them earlier, but they are showing signs of getting overly feisty again. I better go get out the fishing pole toy and wear them out again. I knew they would be insane today. Both of them were far too sweet and adorable yesterday, and they never can be sweet and adorable two days in a row. OK, they are always sweet and adorable, but sometimes they are also far too rowdy for anyone’s good, especially our household belongings.

This day started way too early, and I am too well rested and not prone to being a sleepy slug like I normally am on Sunday. What the hell am I going to do with myself today?! Not that there isn’t a list of things I could do today, but I don’t want to do any of them. It’s the weekend. I’d like a day or two off from the usual stuff. Of course, if the cats continue to be as rowdy as they have been, I guess I’ll be spending the day entertaining them. That’ll be fun.

The cats were probably rowdy on Sunday because they rested on Caturday

    This is, alas, entirely true.
