I was looking at the photo of the now-deceased hornworm, and I recalled killing it. I don’t actively kill anything, not even most bugs, so it was a notable experience for the day.

You know that scene at the beginning of 2001, A Space Odyssey? With the monolith, the ape, and the jaw bone? It was like that. Minus the monolith and replacing the jaw bone with a rubber gardening clog from Denmark. If you haven’t seen that movie, well, why the hell not? For those few poor souls out there lacking that cultural reference, you can watch the trailer to the movie and get a good enough impression of what I am talking about.

But yeah … I went primeval ape on that poor hornworm.
