Munchies

I’ve been at the Disney website for about an hour. We watched an episode of Unwrapped on Food Network tonight, and I finally found a reason to go to Disney World. I want to go spend a week eating my way through Disney World. Yes, the food has suckered me in to wanting to go there. Oh my god … the food.
I don’t have anything against Disney World. I have a couple of friends who go to one or the other of the parks regularly and are really into the whole Disney thing. Interacting with people in large-headed costumes is just not my thing. Being around thousands of small children is also not my thing. Going on rides is not my thing. But eating? Eating is one of my things.
So I am considering the possibility of a vacation to Epcot Center, with a nice resort room, and a dining plan. Not that we can afford it right this minute, but considering how hot it is in Florida right now, I wouldn’t want to go right this minute anyway. I’m just looking over the options. Just in case we get crazy and the opportunity to go on an actual vacation ever pops up, I’ll have some ideas.
Back to exploring the dining options at Epcot, of which there are many, and they all look tasty!

LOL! I was watching it too and drooling over their deserts! I want to go too! (just for the food)

It was the desserts that did me in. Yup, I want to go to Disney just to eat the desserts.
Oops! I put “drooling over their deserts” instead of desserts! Sand isn’t as yummy as chocolate!
We spent a week at Disney World in May (Yes, all 8 of us went…
. Here are a few recommendations-go for the discount hotels (All star sports / All star music / Pop Century): Basic room, good amenities, bus service to and from all the parks. Every day a different park is open early for resort visitors and a different stays open late (up to three hours) just for those staying at a disney hotel. PLus any purchases can be delivered directly to your room within 48 hours, or to the hotel within 24 hours.
For us, we brought cereal bars and fruit for breakfast and usually ate in town for lunch (Golden Corral, Soup-Salad-Breadsticks at Olive Garden, etc) and then went to a restaurant on the resort for dinner.
Recommendations from me:
Pizza at the Pop Century food court was amazingly fresh and inexpensive although their tuna sandwich was unwieldy and difficult to eat. Pop Century also sold free-refill cups that could only be used there but we definitely made up the price with coffee every morning (coffee, tea, soda, water and juice were the refill choices).
The Cuban restaurant at Downtown Disney had excellent food but their bartender sucked at making anything.
I can’t remember the name of the hamburger place we ate at in Magic Kingdom but it was simply an upscale McDonalds (near Stitch’s great escape ride-Tomorrowland, I believe)
The Rose and Crown Dining Room at Epcot was decent and worth going to again.
My favorite restaurant there was the Tusker House on Animal Kingdom. All you can eat, all done with an African flair. Three types of beef, three types of pork, two types of salmon and one type if Tilapia. Plus falafel and flat breads that were definitely homemade…
I would go back to Tusker House anytime.
If you want to hear more, or any other questions, let me know
Thanks for the info!
Tusker House was on that show we watched and yes, it looked so tasty. All the food they showed looked tasty. It never occurred to me that there would be awesome food there. Most shows on Disney just how all the more junk food type stuff. I can be lured into amusement parks by great food.
