Glamor Shots

Just got in from spending some time out in my windy, windy yard. What is up with the high winds today? It’s crazy! Anyway, I took a photo of Happy Post-Op Orb, but as soon as I saw it, I decided no one but Lin and my mom need to see me looking that awful. I thought I looked pretty human, but the camera and sunlight have shown me the reality of it. I look like I have two black eyes, there’s some light bruising around the corners of my mouth, and bits of strange puffiness all over my face. Not exactly a glamor shot!

Instead, I will show you more photos of growing produce! It looks much better than I do. :)

First up is the first tomato to form on Mr. Stripy. It’s about the size of a half-dollar already! It’s sure to take quite a few more weeks to get to its expected size of one pound, but boy is it growing fast. Very exciting!

Next is the first TAM Jalapeño. It’s been growing fast too, and it’s only got about an inch more to grow before I can pick it. These can be left on until they start turning red, and I may do that, if only to buy myself some time to get back to eating solid foods before I pick it. I do not want to miss out on eating some of the first jalapeño.

In other produce news, there are four cherry tomatoes sitting on my counter ripe and ready to eat, and about three more that should be ready by tomorrow. I don’t care if I have to chop them into teensy little bits to eat them, I will be having something resembling a salad tomorrow night at dinner. They look so good!

And now … I am going to go be horizontal on the couch. I feel the need for a nap. The ibuprofen finally stopped doing a good enough job of cutting back the jaw pain, and I had to take a Vicodin. Naturally, this means I can barely keep my eyes open. For the best really, because the boredom of taking it easy was beginning to make me consider doing some yard work, and my sorry-looking self should probably put that off for a few more days as well. It’s easy to forget I have actually been through a wringer this week and laying around is permitted.
