I’m trying to feel some excitement about NASA announcing they found a 140 year old supernova in our galaxy. Wait, they didn’t just find it. They have been tracking it since 1985. They just figured out it wasn’t as old as they thought it was. Yes, trying to be excited about that.
Not succeeding much. I was hoping for something a lot more exciting.

Me too I was bummed out. We’re getting thunder and lightning now. It’s my turn!!
I saw one of the NASA guys on a science news show, and he was being all tight-lipped about what the announcement would be and had that “excited scientist” gleam in his eyes. I thought it would be something way more exciting than finally determining the age of a supernova. I’m sure they think it’s very exciting, but doesn’t change much in my life … so kinda boring.
The weather has been whacked all over Texas this week. We’ve been lucky and most of the really bad stuff has slipped around us, but my mom got slammed last night with high wind and some hail. It could stop raining now. My yard is getting soggy.
I was looking for the announcement long after it was made. It just didn’t register that all this hype might be over a supernova having exploded 26140 years ago instead of the previously assumed 28000 or whatever.
