Link Dump

Too many browser windows open, so it must be time for a link dump!
8 year old suspended from school for sniffing a Sharpie mark on his shirt. Not huffing the marker, mind you, but sniffing the mark it made on his shirt. More delightful zero tolerance crap!
Two high school seniors enter an art contest. They win. They don’t get the awards though, because they dare to make artistic nudes. Yes, evil, evil nudes in art! Read the story. It’s rich.
A large, publicly financed database of information on reproductive health run by John Hopkins University was set to ignore “abortion” as a search term. Librarians were outraged, and I hear the word has now been restored as a search term. Shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Bloggers who blog for pay apparently live very stressful lives. Two top names (who I had never heard of) died recently, and some bloggers are concerned. I’d b e more concerned if they hadn’t been a 60 year old and a 50 year old (both male) dying of cardiac arrest. It’s not like that is something totally unheard of among non-bloggers. When a 20 year old falls over from the stress of blogging, then I’ll get worried.
“At speeds about 10,000 times faster than a typical broadband connection, “the grid” will be able to send the entire Rolling Stones back catalogue from Britain to Japan in less than two seconds.” It seems big changes are on the horizon for the internet as we know it, and it’s all going to be thanks to the super-collider going online later this month … you know, the one that’s going to end up destroying the whole world. ![]()
People are selling their gold jewelry and coins to be melted down, thanks to the high price on gold right now. More power to them. Melt down those collectible gold coins. I’ll be holding on to mine, and they are just getting rarer by the day. Though I have considered selling my grandfather’s size 18 gold lodge rings. You ever seen a size 18 ring? They’re huge!
A 13 year old girl with a minor knee injury has her crutches taken away from her by a school nurse in order to keep other students from getting injured. Naturally, the injury was made worse, and now there will probably be a lawsuit. Yes, more unthinking school policy crap.
Some photographs from storm chasers you just have to see. Really stunning.
The military has been using the FBI to get around restrictions on said military doing domestic surveillance. None of us are surprised by this, are we?
Germany’s Gesellen (journeymen) are not your average homeless hobos. A very interesting look into a vanishing breed.
Well, there then. That cleared out my browser windows and most of my desktop. Yippee! I can close my browser now! ![]()
