Weird Dream
April 5th, 2008 - 8:40 pm
I laid down on the bed earlier, and fell asleep. I had the strangest dream. Lin and I were living in a big, open, airy, old Victorian-style beach-house, on a beach and with a huge beautiful yard. That’s not the strange part. The house was awesome. Now comes the weird part…
There was a full-sized moose in my kitchen freaking me out, and a baby moose in the dining room. Lin called a bunch of his male friends over to help him get the moose out of the house. While they did that, my mom and I were in the back yard chasing after adorable, tiny little fluffy bunnies and putting them in a playpen. I mean these things were the size of large frogs, and the fur on their heads had fancy iridescent patterns much like you see on some kinds of ducks.
When we had caught the last of them in the yard, Mom went to tell the neighbors we had their rabbits, and I headed back to the house. On the back porch, there was another baby moose. I found the guys walking away from the house and asked if they had gotten the moose out of the house. They said “no” and that they were going next door for some dinner.
I followed them into a multi-storied BBQ-slash-feed store that was filled with all sorts of antique farm implements. I lost the guys, because I kept stopping to look at weird things. One of the weird things I stopped to look at was a miniature orange cat. A living adult cat that was smaller than a kitten. He was curled up on a little velvet bed, and as I stroked his fur, he purred loudly and started to glow softly. The price tag beside him said he cost ten of some unit I had never heard of before. The store owner came over and asked me if I wanted the cat. I said I did, but that I didn’t have ten whatever-it-wases to pay for him. He said “That’s OK. I see you are carrying around a bag of cat food, so I know you love cats. You can have him free!” That was when I noticed I was carry around a large bag of cat food. I picked up the tiny orange cat and went further into the store to find Lin and the guys.
I could hear their voices up ahead, but I couldn’t ever seem to catch up to them. Eventually, I came to a room full of machinery. This machinery was sending large slabs of meat down into the basement, and when I looked over the edge of an overhang to see what was happening down there, I could see a bunch of people BBQing the meat and then putting it on other machines to send it elsewhere in the building. The noise in the room was deafening, and I couldn’t find a way to get to the basement from where I was, so I left that room and started up some dark stairs.
That’s when I snapped right back into being away and just laid there a minute thinking about what a really strange dream I just had. I dream a lot, and I remember many of them, but I don’t often have strange dreams. Yes, events in my dreamworld tend to stick to the laws of natural reality, probably because I am a very lucid dreamer and often use dream-time to work out problems. There may be strange interpersonal relationships and people and places I don’t know in my dreams, maybe the odd situation or two, but never anything like a moose in my kitchen, tiny iridescent bunnies or orange glowing miniature cats. Also a little odd was the fact I didn’t realize I was dreaming until I woke up. So I guess this was my mind just going wild all by it’s unconscious self. My mind is apparently very strange when my conscious mind doesn’t keep tabs on it. ![]()
Anyway, it was just so strange I had to make note of it.
