Recall-O-Rama

On behalf of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., I want to assure you that product safety is our highest priority. For that reason, I want to let you know that we recently learned that two items sold at our stores from approximately January 1, 2008 through March 15, 2008, an Easter Spinning Egg Top (item number 1054) and a package of 8 Camouflage Eggs (item number 1031), have a paint surface coating with a lead content exceeding limits allowed by the federal government. The items were manufactured in China, and Hobby Lobby purchased a total of 13,032 units combined for sale in Hobby Lobby retail stores.

Just so you know. I fondled the camouflage eggs the last time I was at Hobby Lobby, because they were sort of cute, but luckily, my commitment to not buying plastic crap made in China kept me from actually buying them.

  1. best friend just emailed me a link to an article with pictures about walmart sandals from china. I have to make it a habit to not buy products from China grrrrr :puh:

  2. OMG! That’s just insane!

I avoid, avoid, avoid things made in China. In fact, when I am looking at things in stores, as soon as I see Made in China on them, I get a sick feeling in my stomach and drop them like hot potatoes. I have totally brainwashed myself to not buy things from China.

It sort of sucks, because it means there are some really cute and cool things I do not get to own, and sometimes I end up having to pay more for something I want or need, but I feel safer. You never know what might happen … like Easter eggs with lead paint or flip-flops that totally screw up your feet or dead pets or worse. It feels entirely wrong to fear all products made in a country, but how am I supposed to tell which ones are deadly and which ones aren’t?
