GEC 2008

I emailed Mom earlier to verify that her email was now working. She just replied a few minutes ago that it seemed to be mostly working, but there must still be something wrong, because she hadn’t gotten any emails from her four friends with computers, and it isn’t possible all four of them wouldn’t have emailed in two days. Yes, now she thinks somehow Mail is letting through the spam and emails from me but keeping email from those four people from getting to her. I think it’s much more likely, being the weekend, that in a group of friends as small as that, none of them have emailed her for two days.
I had to laugh because she also mentioned she had gotten about 100 spam mails when she usually gets much less than that. Oops. That would be my fault. While I was poking around in her web mail settings, I turned off the spam filter to see what effect it would have. Now I know it catches a lot of spam. I have turned it back on and will not be mentioning this to Mom.
So while I am certain the Great Email Crisis of 2008 is officially a thing of the past, Mom will likely be whining about it not being over until she gets an email from one of her friends. But at least I haven’t been on the phone all day today, though that hardly makes up for the five hours I spent on the phone yesterday. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate talking on the phone even with people I know? Well, I do. Text messaging on the other hand I love immensely. ![]()
