Here’s my political commentary for the day:
Stop insisting that candidates, all the candidates, denounce things that other people are saying. Everyone, even the rich, powerful, and famous have the right to say stupid stuff about anyone they like, within the bounds of libel and slander laws, of course, and the candidates have better things to do than denounce every stupid thing someone else spews.
Both parties and all the big campaigns, as well as the media, have been guilty of running after something stupid someone rich, powerful, or famous says about a candidate, and then demanding the other candidate, who may or may not have any actual tie to this person at all, denounce it. I say let stupid people of all ilks say whatever stupid crap they like, and ignore them. It only makes them look more stupid, and if anyone else buys into the stupidity they are spewing, they those people are also stupid.
Listen to what the candidates themselves are saying. Stop paying attention to the groupies.
Thus ends today’s political commentary.
